We welcome pitches that help readers understand a distinct question in rural public policy. Strong contributions explain a concept or decision path, define necessary terms and show where a general account ends.
What to pitch
Propose a focused explainer, comparison, policy-process account or examination of a clearly bounded trade-off. A pitch should state the question, the intended reader, the main point and why the subject is useful beyond one news cycle. Avoid pitches that depend on unverified claims, personal promotion or advice that requires professional expertise.
What makes a strong contribution
Use plain English, separate fact from interpretation and make the limits of the argument clear. Name the material you would rely on and flag any uncertainty or relevant competing view. We value distinct angles over broad surveys and do not accept work that disguises advertising as editorial content.
How to send a proposal
Send your pitch through the Contact page and choose the editorial option. Include a working title, a short summary and a brief note about your approach. A proposal is not a commission, and we may edit accepted work for clarity, length and consistency.
Good policy starts with a clear question
First name the goal. Then examine the tool, the trade-offs and the path to delivery. That sequence makes a proposal easier to understand.
